Our client is a well-established organisation with a national reputation based in Reading, seeking an Ecommerce Content Executive to join them. Reporting to the Content & Social Media Manager, this role would be ideal for a customer-focused copywriter wanting to expand their experience in a small but growing team. You’ll be expected to be flexible and comfortable working within a fast-paced commercially focused environment, and quick to understand new systems and technology.

This role will support the Marketing and Buying teams with on-site and off-site content campaigns, promotional plan execution, new product launches and existing product enrichment. You’ll understand and adhere to SEO best practice throughout all copy created, and support other teams with ad-hoc requests as needed. 

You’ll be comfortable with analytic tools (such as Google Analytics) to identify and replicate high performing content. Familiarity with Microsoft and Google suites is a must, particularly Excel and Sheets.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Create and consistently improve website copy across all areas
  • Support all areas of the company to create a consistent tone of voice

  • Work closely with the Buying team to develop an understanding of product launches, identifying key USPs, features and benefits to develop product and category copy
  • Implement Search Engine Optimisation best practice in all copy created
  • Create copy for email, blog, social & paid media advertising when required, ensuring consistency
  • Work closely with the UX/UI designer to provide copy that guides the reader through the customer journey smoothly and towards conversion
  • Work closely with the Web Optimisation Manager to identify high performing content, replicating this approach where appropriate to improve other areas of the website
  • Implement promotional content across the website
  • Work in an editorial capacity on both freelancer content and content produced by SMEs
  • Create and load new products onto our CMS platform, and edit existing products
  • Become a product and category expert across the catalogue

About you: 

You’re a self-starting individual with a forward thinking, proactive approach who can work under pressure and to deadlines. You can think on your feet, know when to ask the right questions and have a ‘can do’ attitude.

  • You’ll be an expert in balancing engaging copy and rich content, with commercial goals
  • Good understanding of SEO best practices and how content can support SEO
  • You’re a great storyteller with a talent for engaging the customer
  • You’re proactive, with a customer-first mentality

Experience required: 

  • At least 2 years’ experience in copywriting, specifically in eCommerce would be beneficial 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand data and reports to highlight key actions and insight

  • Strong team player and great communicator across all levels of the business
  • Good knowledge of retailer e-commerce objectives and ways of working
