Graduate Data Analytics Engineer

This is a fantastic 12 month fixed term contract opportunity for a Graduate Data Analytics Engineer to join a successful and fast-growing business with lovely offices in Stoke and Reading.

You'll be joining a business that delivers fully managed secure ICT services to the UK's Defence and Security sectors and to other government departments which have complex and demanding security requirements.
The Graduate Data Analytics Engineer will play a key role in the build, implementation and support of innovative, accreditable, cost efficient and profitable solutions to comply with HMG's security classification system. This is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist training and development to become a skilled IT Engineer, working on technically interesting IT Projects that utilise innovative technologies.

The role:

  • Support the build and installation of secure managed ICT Service solutions delivering a range of technologies to meet the needs of current customers and future markets.
  • Support the design and development of future solutions, where appropriate building, testing and deploying new solutions into service.
  • Conduct 2nd and 3rd line support activities as part of the service management of solutions.


A range of typical duties would include:

  • Comprehensive selection of system and cyber security technologies
  • Support End-to-End Cyber Threat Analysis engine
  • Assist Internet of Things (IoT) analytics, including Sensor Analysis and Tracking
  • Trending and Predictive Analysis using AI and Machine Learning
  • Cyber Simulation and Digital Twinning platform
  • Support with the development of new processes, services or products and accompanying transformational change within the business
  • Monitoring, supporting, and maintaining computer systems and networks


Qualities, Skills and Experience required:

  • A degree or equivalent within Computer Science, Data Science, Cyber Operation, Cyber forensic analysis or Penetration testing
  • Ability to demonstrate a logical and methodical approach to solving problems
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Committed to complete the project
  • Willing to learn and flexible to adapt
  • Able to work in a team and on individual assignments to a deadline
  • Self-motivated
  • High level of PC literacy with the ability to maintain and build computers and computer systems, whilst also demonstrating a keen interest in technology and technological trends
  • Good understanding of Windows OS
  • Familiarity with a Programming language i.e. Python, Java, Shell
  • Exposure to Linux
  • Hadoop Ecosystem knowledge
  • Data Analytics experience is preferred
  • An understanding of Data Science and methods
  • Interest in cyber security frameworks, processes and Digital Evidence handling
  • An understanding of Configuring Servers and Networking Services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Windows Server Update Services, Key Management Service, etc.
  • An Interest in Networking - TCP/IP - LAN / WAN.
  • Hold or be able to obtain suitable security clearance
